Sustainable Transportation

With approximately one-fifth of Temple University's greenhouse gas emissions attributed to transportation, the way we move about has a great impact on the environment. In an effort to reduce its carbon footprint, the University provides the Temple community with sustainable transportation alternatives through the Office of Sustainability such as:

Green Commute Resources

Bike Temple

Bike Temple is a university wide initiative to promote bicycle use among students, staff and faculty. Through education, infrastructure improvements and advocacy, Bike Temple works to make the university a safe and convenient place to travel to and from by bicycle, and to create a bike culture on campus. For information on the bike amenities and program available on campus, visit the Bike Temple website.

Carsharing

While having a car in the city is often more trouble than it is worth, some times a car is necessary. Car Sharing offers the convenience of a car without all the hassle and expense of having a car on campus. Temple has established partnerships with both Zipcar and Enterprise Car Share to offer discounted membership rates to the Temple community. Both groups have cars available for use on Temple’s Main and Health Science campuses, including hybrid and electric vehicles.

Visit the Office of Sustainability's Transportation page for more information.

University SEPTA Pass

The Temple University Pass is a semester-based transit pass sponsored by SEPTA and the university, which offers discounted transit passes to full time Temple students (almost a 10% discount). This program is offered through the Bursar’s office, and applications for the pass can be found on the Bursar’s website.

Wageworks

WageWorks enables full time employees of Temple University to pay public transportation, vanpool, or parking expenses with pre-tax money. This program can be used for SEPTA transit passes or tokens. Visit Temple's Human Resource's Benefits page for more information on enrolling in WageWorks.
