Biohazardous Waste Management Program

Environmental Health and Radiation Safety (EHRS) has developed a robust program for the management of biohazardous waste generated by research, instructional, and clinical activities at Temple University (TU). The purpose of the program is to protect the safety of students, employees, and vistors; protect the environment; and to comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

Environmental Health & Radiation Safety (EHRS) has developed a policy and associated guidance documents to establish a written plan to address how the University manages all biohazardous waste generated from Temple University (TU).

Radiological and chemical waste are covered in the Radiation Safety Manual and the Chemical Waste Management Program respectively, and are therefore not covered by this program.
